SO proud!
Adysen and Allie have started a program at the base chapel called Awanas. It's a program that is sort of similar to girl scouts, but the focus is on memorization of biblical concepts - mostly scripture. Last year, they started but got frustrated quickly by the memorization they had to do in the beginning. In order to pass the first "step" and get their vests and books, they had to learn the Awana motto, Awana plege, US pledge, Awana song and John 3:16. They had to know these word for word with no help and the leaders were really strict, allowing no help at all. They tried it for a few weeks and then lost interest. This year, they wanted to try again and Adysen caome home tonight with the biggest smile on her face because she made it the first week this time!!! Allie knew hers also, but she faked a sickness today and came home from school, so she didn't get to go tonight. I hope she passes next week.

Fall Festival
Well, it sure doesn't FEEL like Fall around here, we had a Fall Festival at school this weekend. I didn't get to take my camera, but did get a shot of the lovely face painted girls afterward! Allie also got purple hair, but Adysen decided colored hair was not her thing! :)Allie's class made a rainbow Fish cake that won first place in the contest and she was SO excited. Kelsey opted to miss the excitement of the festival and go to the High School football game instead!

Oh No!
Well, we awoke to a very unwelcome sight this morning. It was raining like crazy and apparently our canopy that covers our back porch just couldn't handle it. It had streteched out a bit and had a weak spot in it and apparently the water pooled in there, pulling down the canopy until the frame gave way. We are so sad because we spend SO much time on our porch and this canopy set up was not cheap - nothing in Guam is cheap!!

What we've been up to.....
Well, we have been adjusting to school starting and getting back in the routine and all that goes along with that. We did find time to have some fun on the beach during Labor Day weekend, though....
Adysen and Allie started a new season of soccer and I got some good pictures of their game yesterday. The pictures look similar to the ones from last season as they have the same uniforms, but I like to have pictures of each season to see how they grow!

Another First Day of School
Here she is... our Sophmore in High School! She wouldn't let me follow her to school with camera like I did with Adysen and Allie, but she did let me go to the bus stop and take a picture with one of her friends! How ever did she get so old and so beautiful?? :)

First Day of School

10th Anniversary Cruise
I am finally finding time to catch up with blogging and wanted to share the story of the cruise that Jason and I went on to celebrate our 10th anniversary this summer. We went on a Royal Carribean cruise that began in Ft. Lauderdale and stopped in Jamaica and Grand Cayman. Jason surprised me by booking the "romance" package which included lots of fun stuff like decorations in the room....
There were also fun things like strawberries and champagne, appetizers before dinner, flowers, etc. It was great!! We spent the first day at sea relaxing in our room, which had a really cool balcony, and at the pool. That night was the Captain's Dinner where we got to dress up for dinner.
The next day we stopped in Jamaica where we got to climb a 600 ft. waterfall. It was beautiful!!
The next day was a stop at Grand Cayman where we swam with stingrays!
Jason also got the husband of the year award on this cruise! :) One night at dinner he surprised me with a GORGEOUS new wedding ring!!! We ate at a fancy restaraunt for dinner and he had planned ahead for the waiter put it in my champagne glass.The whole staff was in on the secret and was SO excited when I found it!! :) The ring is absolutely beautiful and it was a suprise that I will never forget!!

Back in Guam...
Well, it was a very eventful trip, but we FINALLY made it home! I don't think I've ever been so glad to be home in my life!!! We left on a commercial flight on Tuesday, July 31st and went to San Francisco. We spent one night there and had fun seeing a few things in the area.
On Wednesday, we drove to Travis Air Force Base (about an hour from San Francisco) and were lucky to get a VERY nice room in the lodge there as the first plane out to Hawaii didn't leave until the next day. We woke up early and got out on the second plane that went to Hawaii. After getting to the base in Hawaii, we were lucky again to get a room which wasn't as nice, but it was fine for only one night. We were tired, but figured we'd see a little of Hawaii, so we drove out and found a shopping area and resturaunt to eat in and Allie got to have her birthday dinner in Hawaii!!
We got up early again and dragged our luggage - we had 320 lbs of luggage... 10 checked bags plus carry-ons (UGH) - out AGAIN to the terminal where the fun began. We got there at 6:30am and there were 5 flights scheduled for Guam that day, but then they began to be delayed. The first flight that was scheduled at 7:10am left at around 11:00am. They called us to get on that one, but they only had 4 seats left and we needed 5, so we couldn't go! Then, nothing went out for the rest of the day! We had to keep waiting because we didn't know when they would actually go out and we were first on the list to get on the next plane out IF we were there when it left. Also, they had given away our room at the lodge and there were NO more rooms left at all. Another factor is that the a/c was out in the terminal which made the wait seem even longer.The girls had fun playing on an indoor playground while we all waited and waited. Finally, at about 11:15pm (19 hours after we arrived) they finally did the roll call for the next flight and we made it on. We were SOOOOO happy, but felt bad for the other people that we had met who didn't make it on - there were only 10 passengers on this flight and there were at least 60 people waiting!! So, at 1:30am we boarded the plane and were exhausted of course!
We were SO happy to be on the plane, but experienced a traumatic event - it was a refueler plane, so it had the jump seats like you see on the planes on TV sometimes. They also had some bunks in the back that people could trade off sleeping on. So, since we got on the plane at 1:30am, we were all exhausted and slept most of the way. Adysen and I were sleeping on the bunks in the back and Allie and Kelsey were stretched out across the seats alseep (without seatbelts). Jason was awake and reading when we hit a HUGE pocket of turbulence and Jason, Kelsey and Allie were thrown up in the air and across the plane. Adysen and I went directly up, I hit my head on her bunk and back down again. Even the crew was amazed - they said they have rarely ever experienced something like that and the pilot said there was NO indication on the radar that it was coming. It was an experience that I hope I never have to repeat - flying makes me nervous anyway and that didn't help! The good news was that it was only about an hour before we landed, not at the beginning of the trip!! Allie's knee was sore for a while, Jason hurt his shoulder and I have 2 big knots on my head and pulled a muscle in my back, but luckily, those things are pretty minor. We are SO happy to be back in Guam and hope to stay off planes for a while! :)
